Finding Your Place in Healthcare: One Journey, Many Possibilities

The American Military University - American Public University Health Sciences Honor Society (HSHS) is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity that reflects one of our core goals: Connecting members with accomplished leaders who are actively shaping the future of healthcare.

On October 29 @ 1200 Eastern Time, the HSHS will welcome Dr. Claire M. Zangerle, a member of the American Military/Public University System Board of Trustees and one of the nation's most respected healthcare executives, for an exclusive virtual conversation with our inductees.

Throughout her career, Dr. Zangerle has led some of the country's largest nursing organizations, advised healthcare systems through periods of transformation, and helped shape national conversations surrounding healthcare leadership and workforce development. Her willingness to spend time with HSHS members represents a unique opportunity for students to hear directly from someone whose influence extends across the healthcare profession.

Rather than focusing on a single clinical discipline, this discussion will explore the broader forces changing healthcare, from leadership and innovation to workforce challenges and the future of the health sciences profession. Whether you are studying nursing, healthcare administration, public health, medical laboratory science, or another health sciences field, the conversation promises valuable perspective on the opportunities that lie ahead.

Featured Speaker
Dr. Zangerle currently serves as President of CMZ Strategies, LLC, where she advises healthcare organizations on leadership, organizational transformation, and strategic planning.

Prior to founding CMZ Strategies, she served as Chief Nurse Executive and Chair of the Nursing Institute at Allegheny Health Network, leading more than 6,000 nurses across acute and ambulatory care settings. Her career has also included executive leadership positions with the Cleveland Clinic and service as Chief Executive Officer of the Visiting Nurse Association of Ohio.

Beyond executive leadership, Dr. Zangerle continues to influence healthcare nationally through service with the American Organization for Nursing Leadership, the American Hospital Association Workforce Committee, and the editorial boards of Nursing Management and Nursing Administration Quarterly.

What Members Can Expect
During the webinar, Dr. Zangerle will share her perspective on several topics that are reshaping healthcare today, including:
✓ Emerging trends shaping healthcare delivery
✓ The future of healthcare leadership
✓ Workforce challenges and opportunities
✓ Innovation across the health sciences professions
✓ Preparing for successful careers in an evolving healthcare environment
✓ Questions and discussion with HSHS members
Why This Matters
One of the goals of HSHS is to create opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom. While coursework provides the academic foundation for future careers, conversations with experienced leaders offer a different kind of education, one grounded in real-world experience, strategic decision-making, and professional growth.

Opportunities like this allow our members to hear directly from individuals who have influenced healthcare at the national level and to better understand the leadership qualities that will define the profession in the years ahead.

We are grateful to Dr. Zangerle for her willingness to engage with our members, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to what promises to be an insightful discussion this fall.
